Cloth bound, 12mo. 344pp. Ex-library copy, original cloth scuffed and worn at extremities with tear to spine top, rear board creased, corners bumped. Rear hinge starting. Endpapers with original library stamps and markings, remains of stickers, some soiling. Binding intact with no loose pages. Occasional spotting throughout. This book is extremely scarce in any condition. Lightoller was the senior surviving officer from the Titanic. When his autobiography was published in 1935 the Marconi company threatened to sue for comments made on the role of their wireless operators in the disaster and the book was pulled from the shelves, leaving the purchased copies as the only surviving First Editions. Subsequent later editions of the book were released with amended text. This particular copy is one of the few genuine STATED FIRST EDITIONS.
